Mingchen: Hi, I am Minchen Yang, SCADA President.
Sharon: Hi, my name is Sharon Gough, Vice President.
Mingchen: As you know, SCADA is hosting 20th Anniversary Gala. When? June 22nd. It’s coming soon and we are excited and look forward to it.
Sharon: You know our themes: Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present, and Embrace the Future. We want to express more about these themes and why we come up with them.
Sharon: The reasons behind the theme, Honor the Past was back in 1997 when we met many Asian Deaf at the conference. They want to establish an organization in Southern California. Two years later, we set up this organization to discover their leaderships, cultures, and identities. Since 1999, we continued to encourage Asian Deaf to develop their leaderships, cultures, and identities.
Mingchen: What’s special about the theme, Celebrate the Present? Since 1999, we noticed many Asian Deaf gain their self-esteem, confidence, and pride in themselves. We have witnessed their growth which inspired us to continue our mission for SCADA. Asian Deaf aren’t the only ones who receive our support. Deaf people who aren’t Asians, they are similar by learning about cultures, values, and traditions. They learn to respect each other. For 20 years of hard work, it’s time to celebrate!
Sharon: We will focus on this theme, Embrace the Future. Now we have new generation joining SCADA. They have their new vision for the future to expand SCADA. For new ideas, I will let new President and Vice President share what they are at the gala. We believe that your contribution will help SCADA to continue growing.
